Around the world 80 countries consider homosexuality illegal, in five of these the death penalty can apply. Moreover, the persecution experienced by LGBT people goes well beyond any official prosecutions. The violence, humiliation, inequality and discrimination many LGBT people face, can be enacted by state officials, but is also often experienced within their own communities and families without any recourse to protection. UKLGIG assists LGBT people who have come to the UK to seek a safe haven from persecution, and supports LGBT activists who are working to change the attitudes and legislation in their home countries.

Now LGIG team up with Wotever to Celebrate their 20th Anniversary, and do a Fundraiser.

On stage we will see Hot Drag Troupe &?! (and what) with their highpowered energy and sazziness. Male Bellydancer SnakeBoy will entertain us as only he can… making those hips move..
And making sure this will def be a PAAAARTYYY DJ Ritu is behind the decks mixing the music!

SWEAT London is a sex and BDSM play space for women , transpeople, intersex and genderqueers (whether assigned female or male at birth).

We’re in our favourite space in a great venue in South London which has play spaces, a sauna and steam room. Newcomers are very welcome as well as more experienced players. We run an ice-breaker thing early in the evening which is popular.

GENDERPLAY WORKSHOP – For all who are curious about gender

Saturday 20th April, 12-5pm, at the RVT

This event came about when one younger person wrote this on the wall for our Bar Wotever Group on FaceBook:

‘Hey, just a thought on an event you might consider having. I think some of us might be interested in… gah I’d hate to call them “passing techniques” because that just sounds bloody awful but like… sort of ways you can work around your given bodily shape, anatomy, features, etc. to maybe do some things you want to do. Like I’d love to learn how to have realistic facial hair, the sort of quality drag king style, but I’d have no idea where to start. Maybe we need some GenderPlay workshops from people who can give you a few tips?’

So, as some of us have ‘worked’ with this for many years, both on a professional and personal level we created this event. So, come if you are interested in gender, and gender expressions. It’s playful and exploring, nothing is set in stone and it’s based more on creating a space to explore than be given set answers…

Ever since their song “Lick It” was included in the fourth season of The L Word, God–des and She have been rightly called the high priestesses of lesbian hip hop, selling more than 30,000 albums and still touring the world.

They are musicians on a mission, not content with just making music — they’re talking about important issues like bullying, building community and they are about treat Bar Wotever to a unique experience. Their live shows are always amazing, the two have an energetic magnetic stage presence, and the incredible soul voice of God Des soars effortlessly over fat beats –literally makes the hair on the back of your neck stand right up. The electrifying groove is accompanied by a rich vein of silky rhythm and blues. We’ve had some brilliant performers at Wotever, and on this night, the RVT will be packed to the rafters with people who are fans when they walk in, and others who will be fans when they walk out.

God–des and SHE are talented musicians, with universal appeal. They want to bring change for a lot of people that don’t have a voice. Every day they show the music industry that you don’t have to look like Britney Spears, and sexualize yourself in that way, to be successful female musicians.
The duo are very honest in their music, honest as people, and very authentic. They say they’ve had hardly had any resistance from the straight music community, the music community in general or the hip hop community ‘You know, when you’re being yourself and you take your talent and your craft very seriously, it’s very hard for people to really have anything to say. We’ve really been lucky and we’re super grateful and I think it’s helped us because we’ve always stuck to our merits.’
